Hello #UK #ADHD peoples....
My GP has given me an Adult "ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS-v1.1) Symptom Checklist" as part of trying to get medication prescribed.
Some questions ask about social interactions, but my answers will be impacted by my ASC1 ( #Aspergers ) traits (Questions 15, 17 and 18 just seem like they would be too rude to do.)
Is that likely to impact my NHS diagnosis?

@theaardvark @actuallyadhd @actuallyautistic I'm AuDHD, too. This test seriously confused me when I took it.
I spent a great deal of effort, and most of my life learning how to mask many of these behaviors around others, and to get around many of these problems.
Do I mark "never", because I don't do them anymore, thanks to decades of effort, or "very often" because I naturally would have?
The wording in about half of them ask what you TEND to do (or have trouble with internally), and the other half ask what you DO do.
I suspect whoever made this thing up was neurotypical.

It maybe that these things are taken in to account when reviewing the checklist, but it could also be that I don't get the medication I'd like to try because the AuDHD symptoms don't match their (I worry) simplistic definitions. Gaah!
@theaardvark I had the same types of worry. Like, maybe they account for this by age? Except age is not a field in the form.
Maybe they are measuring how much it appears to affect you, not if you have ADHD or not? That might vaguely make sense, except that being able to manage doesn't mean you shouldn't have help. A one-legged person can also get up the stairs, and may choose to, but that doesn't mean an elevator shouldn't be made an option.
I asked the nurse what they wanted, all she said was to mark "whatever fits closest to what you feel," which didn't help at all.
@shadowcheets
Maybe the real test is whether you call out the inconsistencies. Cos, only an ND would do that.
@theaardvark That'd be a fun twist. I'd appreciate that much more than "We made this neurodivergence test for neurotypical people, because we didn't think about it enough."

I find these tests/questionaires confusing - always have.
