I know that 82% of stats are made up, but I've noticed recently stats that aren't very high being used to make a point: "24% of people thought {thing} was awesome, buy it now!". Have we stopped paying attention to the number? Anyone else seen this?

@Slash909uk hm, yeah, good point; that feels like a distinct possibility in many of these cases.
@Floppy Seems we’ve fallen a long way from “8 out of 10 cats prefer it”. Definitely smacks of generic (and misled) “increase engagement by showing a number”.

@Floppy the other 7 didn't see the survey email amongst the clutter, or were too stressed to deal with it.
