Well, I adopted not one but two male cats today, one a five year-old tuxedo cat like Kidder Cat was named Gizmo (he doesn’t have a tail) and a three year-old named Nubs. I pick them up Monday from the county humane society. More on that later. Now, though, the evening’s “live” selection here on deck, a really good rendition of my favorite Pretenders tune featuring Neil Young on some guitar.

"Runnin' Down a Dream" is a song co-written and recorded by #TomPetty. It was released in July 1989 as the second single from his first solo album #FullMoonFever. "#RunninDownADream" achieved reasonable chart success, reaching number 23 both in Canada and on the US #Billboard Hot 100 and the top of the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart. It has since garnered significant airplay on #classicRock stations, and lent its name to the #2007Documentary on Tom Petty.

"Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo" is a rock song written by American musician #RickDerringer. It was first recorded in 1970 by Johnny Winter and his band #JohnnyWinterAnd, of which Derringer was a member. In 1973, Derringer recorded a solo version, which was his only top 40 chart hit as a solo artist in the US. It became a staple of 1970s #classicRock radio and rock music compilations. Both Winter and Derringer have recorded multiple live versions of the song.

Jim Morrison was not a poet. I will not tolerate that nonsense. To call him a poet is an insult to ACTUAL poets. So get out of here with that shit.

He WAS however, a GREAT rock singer, and a great frontman. And the first Doors album (the only album of theirs ON WHOLE that I’ve ever given a shit about), is one of the most electrifying debut albums ever, of any genre.

It came out a whole ten years before I was born, so I can only imagine what it must have been like to experience it in real time, and experience that band live from 67-68.

My favorite “classic rock” album of all time.

Having a wee Black Sabbath memorial morning while #listeningandediting this morning, the first four albums ought to do it :) 😪 Remembering going round to Davy McKibbens house to listen to the new album by a new rock band he'd bought and being blown away by it, probably the first truly HEAVY rock I ever heard! That rain, the tolling bell ..... #ClassicRock

I accidentally listened to 5 hours of Fanny.

I’ve been listening to full albums, and I have a series of playlists where I queue up albums to listen to. When I get a recommendation of a band I don’t know, I often pick whichever album shows up the most in their top ten list.

Apparently when someone recommended Fanny 1-2 years ago, I grabbed their ultimate collection release. By the time I realized that I said f it, might as well finish.
