Made a new friend on my run. Perhaps a hairy woodpecker. Red patch on the back of their neck was very faint. The trails are still muddy in spots, but a lot drier than I expected. Pathways are mostly clear. Beautiful running weather. Double long run weekend. After yesterday's wet slog, this was glorious. One more week of base and then a ten week build! I'm feeling cautiously optimistic! Looking forward to the grind!

The cherry blossoms have passed and the lilacs are now in bloom! Beautiful sunny run today. So many birds around. This week running, I have seen four great egrets, a green heron, baby goslings with their Canadian parents, Mallard ducklings with mom, cormorants, and so many red winged blackbirds! I am enjoying the last few runs of my taper! Almost go time!

When you live somewhere flat and you race on mountains.

500m elevation in 6km. I'm impressed with my ability to go up and down the same ravine wall over and over and over again. Desperately jealous of people who live near mountains but pleased with my mental game.

Spring running at its best!
