I understand people’s hatred of illegal (and legal) migration. I don’t agree, but I understand. What I cannot understand is the demonisation of the migrants themselves, of the human beings desperately clinging to those overloaded boats; the hateful rhetoric of irresponsible politicians and spiteful tabloids. Where’s your fucking empathy? Your humanity? Shame on you.
