Working on an update of this at #cccamp23, hopefully...
If I do scan your tags, I will only store a hash for deduplication and a count of product IDs (stripped of their unique serial number). The list of hashes will be deleted before I leave camp. #cccamp23 #datenschutzerklärung
Initial impressions are that this setup doesn't quite have enough range and isn't as easy to get close to tents as the hand scanner. But there may be a bug.
(or everyone has wised up and cut the tags out of their Decathlon products...)
Not getting many hits unfortunately, but I'm sure there are thousands of tags here.
So, obligatory PSA: everything you buy from Decathlon has a UHF RFID tag with a unique ID. These tags can be read at a 10m range. Cut them out if you value your privacy.
(If you buy Decathlon shoes, microwave them.)
@russss Also clothes from H&M. Picked up some jeans a couple of weeks ago and they were all RFID-tagged.
@javicuna yeah (also Uniqlo) but these tend to be on the removable cardboard sales tag, not sewn in like Decathlon.
@frankieroberto @javicuna yes, Decathlon uses them for anti-theft. Apparently if you take an unpaid item out of the store, the staff have a tablet which tells them which item it is.
@frankieroberto @russss Both here. It was a temporary shop (old one getting renewed)
