There’s too much commentary and not enough analysis.

That’s my conclusion from dipping back into politics news for a couple of days following the budget.

So much time is given to how people feel, how people are reacting, whether the communications approach has been right, blah blah blah.

And almost no actual analysis of policy. It’s so hard to find good reporting of what is actually happening because it’s being drowned out by clueless voxpops and special interest agendas.

Very odd.

@stu It’s gross and has been going on for years here. I always found it ridiculous when I used to watch the TV news and they’d interview people on the street to ask how they felt about the latest murder or whatever. It’s not news, it was pointless filler, but it was normalizing that bullshit as news leading us to where we are today, where people can’t distinguish feels from fact.

@stu I've seen this with non-political stories as well... they are all about finding the human angle, showing posts from social media about how people are reacting. I don't care about all that fluff, just give me facts and analysis. I want to understand the story, not how Brenda from Bristol feels about it.
