I think our house must be built of paper as I just set up a bluetooth plant monitor in our ensuite on the 2nd floor (using @Alansie@mastodon.social’s guide here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_niucRFd4DM).
I’m waiting for a M5Stack Atom Lite to install as an esphome bluetooth proxy up there, but the bluetooth on the Raspberry Pi 4 on the ground floor (2 floors down) in the understairs cupboard is picking it up ok anyway! #homeassistant #ble #bluetooth #houseplants
Fun! M5Stack Atom now set up behind the TV in our bedroom (outside the ensuite) and the little LED on it should pulse red if the plant needs watering, then turn green for a minute and then go off when all is ok. No doubt I’ll need to tweak the automation in home assistant but we’ll see how it goes!
@jmb I found the pi4 Bluetooth receiver is very good. Can pick up BLE temp sensors that a closer esphome proxy couldn’t. Cant remember what the esp board was offhand though.
@jmb details please! :)
@johnsturgeon Which bit do you need? The m5stack setup or the home assistant automation or both?
@johnsturgeon Actually I’ve just written the extra info here: https://jmb.me.uk/articles/plant_monitor_alert_with_ha_and_m5stack_atom_lite/
@jmb That got me what I needed, thank you!
