Why has my cat started to grab my face? Biscuit's 9 years old, suspected Bengal mix (intense, constant need for attention, high energy, stuck to me like velcro) and in the last ~6mths has started reaching for my face with his paw during his (many) cuddles. His cuddles already verge on the obscene with his insatiable need for closeness. This is a new behaviour. Why now, after 9 yrs?
Our Lucky has started doing this. She very gently pats us on the face. In her case, it's to get attention - like she wants us to put her down or something like that.

Gently! how lovely! How long into your relationship did she start doing this?
Biscuit has much less gentle ways of asking to be put down, generally he just gets down through brute force without asking to be let go - he goes where he wants to go and doesn't care who or what is in his way.
Lucky will be three years old on May 3. She started doing this a couple of months ago. She's very gentle about it. She just pats us on the face. It's our cue that she's tired of being held and wants to be put down. She also does it sometimes when she's picked up, but I think she's just being affectionate then because she usually follows it up by bumping noses.

That is adorable! It's cool to hear about another cat developing a new communication method (for them) seemingly out of nowhere. Bumping noses! Lovely.

Just looked at your pics. Lucky is so sweet with her little pink nose and toe beans. All your guys are gorgeous and quite distinctive, thanks for sharing pics of your feline family.
