Just been chatting with an incoming student who has *never used a computer*. Surprised given that they are definitely online a lot and able to communicate, but seems that somehow they've got to this stage by using tablets and mobiles.

For them, the habit and skill of interacting with a keyboard and mouse and a variety of applications and icons on a screen, well that's going to take some getting used to. I think it's a rare case, but that Apple advert was warning us a couple of years ago.

We used to talk about "", but now it looks like is a thing.

@davoloid in my game I see this with people who have grown up with phones etc and, despite being in the infrastucture / ops field, struggle to differentiate storage and memory because they have never come across physical, moving disk storage, only RAM and SSDs. Likewise folk who’ve never used physical kit like servers and switches, only cloud. It’s an interesting change to see.
