@coprolite9000 - and lets also give credit to #SophieWilson …. she has given so much to computing globally, and - on a personal note - thanks to her, i learned about programming language design and RISC architecture

Yep - mucking about with this stuff has given me a far greater appreciation of the BBC Micro's educational intent!
(BBC BASIC - especially in its 1981 incarnation on the Micro - has its oddities and missing features, but considering its age it's *far* better than it has any right to be.)

It was thoughtfully designed, with block structure, procs and functions (not just GOTO), a built in assembler, and a rudimentary operating system distinct from the BASIC interpreter.
