Hiking the migrant salary requirements from £26k to £38k will kill early career academic research in the U.K. but I guess the Tories don’t care about “woke universities” do they!
@CatherineFlick I'm pretty confident that the current lot of Conservatives' plan for the UK university sector is to make post-92 universities into technical colleges; drastically reduce the number of graduates; & effectively make a university education the preserve of the rich & the lucky few. They don't want us non-Russell Group plebs doing research, especially not the sort that might include criticism of our betters.

@CatherineFlick The truly disgusting thing about what they‘re doing to HE is that they‘ve never had the guts to admit it or put it to the electorate. So, we just get this underhanded strangling of the sector & utter lack of democracy.
@CatherineFlick it will also massively impact the amount of foreign nurses that can be hired, and considering the NHS is completely supported by medical professionals who come from outside of the country, this is going to be an absolute shit-show.
A *lot* of medical professionals from India do additional training in the UK and then bring back that learning to India (and vice-versa). The impact of this is extremely far-reaching.
@Teaceratops Yeah, I didn't want to speak to an area that I didn't know of but I suspected this might be the case! It's just very very shortsighted.
