2 days ago, new cryptoasset rules came into play in the U.K. centred around promotion of cryptoassets. https://www.fca.org.uk/publication/policy/ps23-6.pdf
Back in September it was noted that industry has not been very good at getting ready to implement them. https://www.fca.org.uk/publication/correspondence/firms-preparations-comply-cryptoasset-financial-promotions-regime.pdf
Suffice to say, the FCA has issued 146 alerts in 24h after the implementation of these new marketing rules. https://www.fca.org.uk/news/statements/fca-issues-146-alerts-first-24-hours-new-crypto-marketing-regime
@CatherineFlick I liked the reference to the fact that in its recent letter reminding companies about the new regime, it pointed out social media, search an app stores were facilitating unregistered cryptoassets and then talked about Proceeds of Crime Act. See final warning from Sept: https://www.fca.org.uk/publication/correspondence/final-warning-cryptoasset-firms-marketing-consumers.pdf
@LornaWoods yep, the popcorn is definitely out for this one. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
