Wondering where my #EMR #train is to London - looks like it arrived in #Sheffield but then tootles off down the Worksop line for a rest, before coming back in the station, *checks watch* 10 minutes before departure.
What fun! https://www.opentraintimes.com/schedule/Y08348/2025-06-18
@jamesjefferies shout out to #OTT and all who sail on her
@wnd amen! Although I do also dabble with RTT too
@jamesjefferies that's not a common move. Platform congestion in Sheffield?
I was on a train between London and Manhcester late morning today that got delayed by another train that "hit an animal" and therefore had to be returned to the depot...
@claresudbery @jamesjefferies having spoken to people who deal with the aftermath of such occurrences, the depot visit is both unpleasant and necessary
@claresudbery @mgleadow some of the stuff that railway professionals have to deal with
@mgleadow only one platform occupied at the time - there was a platform change from 2 to 8 for departure, so a way to get across the station without fouling the Meadowhall line?
@jamesjefferies that's possible. But don't need to go all the way to Worksop
@jamesjefferies oh, I misread the message. Just checked the link - yeah that makes sense
@mgleadow @jamesjefferies if only we had a national open API that shared useful information about passenger train consist and maintenance activity
