I knew Facebook was good for something - a chance comment in one of the groups I browse every now and again pointed me at something I've been looking for for years - OBDII<-->MQTT. Fantastic. Ordered. Now just six months to wait for it. https://www.crowdsupply.com/meatpi-electronics/wican-pro
Now the next thing I need (OK, want) is something that'll give me access to an Eberspacher bus.
Update - it arrived.
@NAB I definitely do not need one of these. Definitely.
I wonder if I could follow the home charging of my #EV in #homeassistant with this. #Renault decided in all their wisdom to disable my connected services after three years, and they refuse to enable it again for money.
@leffe @NAB
Another option (especially for anyone less willing to wait a few months) is the Open Vehicle Management System, OVMS https://www.openvehicles.com
People have successfully integrated their #EVs with #HomeAssistant using OVMS.
Thanks, I'll take a look. Do you know if it works with Wifi and/or LTE?
@NAB didn't knew this... guess i'll have one too
@NAB Interresting, but I presume modern cars will cut power to OBDII port once the ignition is off. Might need to allow the engine running for a minute or so at the end of the jorney I take it.
@alphasixtyfive The 12v line on an OBD2 port should always be live - it's needed for diagnostics when the engine isn't running.
