Infoseepage<p>Ultimately, Bunratty fell to the confederates, but the overall structure of the keep was maintained remarkably intact over the coming centuries and it was still occupied in the 1800's before falling into ruin. Infoseepage<p>Saw a castle today, so not a bad day. </p><p>This is Ballybunion Castle in the town of the same name. The present remains are of a 16th century tower house built by the Geraldines with the Bunyan family as its keepers. Dr Helen Wilson<p>Okehampton Castle, Devon</p><p>Motte and bailey castle built 1068-1086 by Baldwin FitzGilbert after local revolt against Norman rule. Infoseepage<p>Mashanaglass castle is unfortunately in VERY ruinous state and not all all stabilized. Dr Helen Wilson<p>Lydford Castle, Devon<br> <br>A C13 tower built on top of a C12 predecessor, it served as a prison for enforcing laws that regulated both Dartmoor’s forest and its tin industry. Offenders against such laws continued to be incarcerated there throughout the medieval period. First casting filled with bubbles. Second casting had a raised top face (sanding and polishing it smooth removed most of the 20 number). So that's a failure, but at least I have a mold and I can try again!</p>
