Good morning all this weekend please make sure that you take care of yourself. Take a rest from work and (if possible) try and get out in the fresh air to clear your head and stretch your legs. Always look out for others, but don't forget to take care of yourselves too

:boost_ok: :ablobcatwave: Please boost this post if you would like the EFF to join the fediverse. :ablobcatbongo:

In a survey the EFF sent me, I suggested they create an account on the fediverse, so they can reach more supporters and support innovative free software that promotes interoperability among platforms, something they've advocated for in the past, too.

If you can boost this post, maybe I'll be able to show them that there are quite a few users who would like them here!

The EFF is the infamous nonprofit organisation that fights for privacy, government transparency, and digital freedom. Their fight is very important, and the EFF is very special to me. https://www.eff.org/about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_Frontier_Foundation

You can see some of their work here https://www.eff.org/work

In the meantime, you can follow @eff, which is an unofficial mirror of their Twitter.

@ray of course. That's what schools are for :) - there should be no proprietary software in public schools. None. National education bodies should put some of the money they currently waste on licenses for proprietary software on funding usability improvements in the FOSS software. The rest they should invest in helping teachers develop better digital skills.

I'm entering the deep, dark world of . I've bought a portable device ( UV-5RTP), the Foundation License Manual, joined the (), joining my local , and monitoring local frequencies for chatter. All I need is for my local Society to open their doors again, and I can take the Foundation course and book my exam.

@SolusSpider @thelovebug @mcnalu glad that you made that discovery πŸ˜‚ welcome to the community of listeners

Discovered #TuxJam today.
Been chatting to @thelovebug on #TheBugcast
Shout-out to fellow Scots @kevie and @mcnalu
BTW, I am killer on Extreme Tux Racer, but was hopeless with Tux Rider on my Galaxy Note 5.

@thelovebug
I thoroughly enjoyed the show.

My "better late than never" comment didn't hold true for the Podcrawl. I hope it went well. I'll definitely try to make the next one.

Wood Hitch was really good, too.

From the "better late than never" files...

These extra few days off at New Year (not back at work until Tuesday) are allowing me to catch-up with a few interests.

Right now, I'm settling down with a coffee, and listening to the festive TuxJam episode. Festive is fine, as I'm still on holiday.

It's just occurred to me that I'm 50 next year. Ack!

I have three instances on the #fediverse. pix.Wildeboer.net for pictures, vid.wildeboer.net for moving pictures and social.wildeboer.net for tweet style stuff. I’ll stay around over on Twitter too, but 2021 I’ll definitely focus on federated networks. 2/2

If you leave negative comments on someone’s β€œ2020 sucked but we did our best” post, you are a shitty person

Whilst 2020 was a bad year it did have many positives @jaz More time with kids, less driving around the region, learning new skills, daily art, geeking, walking, losing weight, telly and chill, working from home, appreciating the little things, looking after myself, making memories, 19 year wedding anniversary, eating better, saving money, helping others, more games nights with friends (but virtually), new radio show, family all healthy

😷 2020 will be one of those years that 20 years from now we will all remember where we were. It has been a supremely stupid year. The word "bubble" will never be the same.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦ But, somewhere in the muck and mire of the stupidity, there were times of joy, love, community.

πŸ€” So, take a look back and find at least one positive thing you can snatch from the past year, and tell the Fediverse about it using the hashtag #covidpositive

Mine will follow to get things started.

Blwyddyn newydd dda pawb!
