Just had a massive rant to our original solar installers about how bad the Solar Together people were. Still angry about the whole thing where they replaced our perfectly good inverter with one that isn’t as good because their batteries didn’t work with it (apparently they could have used different batteries that did work with the original setup). Anyway avoid the #SolarTogether program if you’re in Leicester. The company that does it is bad bad bad.
@CatherineFlick ...it wasn't Green Energy Together was it? https://www.energylivenews.com/2023/05/25/solar-firm-appointed-liquidators/
@russss no, Dynamis, under the Solar Together program
@CatherineFlick I feel like Solar Together does tend to attract installers who cut corners unfortunately (Green Energy Together was one of the largest bidders for Solar Together)
@russss yeah I think the issue is they take on more than they can handle so farm a lot of it out to people who don’t talk to each other.
@CatherineFlick I used Contact Solar (I paid for whole installation). All done in half a day plus a short visit as I ordered a third battery. Been running for 1 year 9 months. So far I've saved about 13% of cost. On a good day I buy less than 1kwh.
@JohnLoader6 yes you missed the part where I had a previous solar company. They were great. Solar Together uses terrible companies.
@CatherineFlick that sucks. I definitely think poor installation+sales is holding things back—shockingly I can’t find a single contractor in *San Francisco* who specializes in electrical retrofit: solar+battery+heat pump+etc.
@luis_in_brief that’s ridiculous!
@CatherineFlick yeah. I keep trying to talk my brother into coming out here and taking over the market, but for some reason he doesn’t want to move to the most expensive housing market in the country
@CatherineFlick I've heard nothing but terrible things about Solar Together, from everyone I know that has used them.
