@slowe it’s also, I think, a big flashing sign of tremendous weakness on their part. They have no actual point, just hate, and are incapable of doing anything about their hate than lashing out and attempting to deny reality. Reality and the forward push of history always wins in the end. Grim and very dangerous times in the meantime.

This kind of shit is what I've been afraid of, just deleting things they don't like. It's one of the reasons I'm all for printed books versus online because where are the guarantees that a work critical to the company or people in charge won't be deleted (or edited and passed off as original)?

Something tells me I need to put my business books on the back burner of my year's reading list and get my WW2 history books out first.

@slowe there won’t be any resistance, just like there was none in Germany. America above all doesn’t sound bad to Americans, does it? Do Americans have any doubt that they are living in the best country on Earth, and their way of life is the superior one? So it’s great soil for fascism.

The only thing standing in the way are 250 years of democratic institutions. Hopefully they’ll win.

It is worth noting that the commonly-seen photo of Nazis burning books is the destruction of LGBTQ information. That pile is the life's work of Dr Magnus Hirschfeld, a pioneer in human sexuality studies, and who performed some of the first gender reassignment surgeries.
So yeah, basically identical.
