Just last week some friends told me that people "get more conservative with age" (in the UK) as if that is just inevitable. But the link with age is starting to go https://twitter.com/jburnmurdoch/status/1608746369505976323. There is a correlation with home ownership https://twitter.com/davidottewell/status/1633108779137998848 but the FT's John Burn-Murdoch points out that the link, for Millennials, is going even amongst home owners: https://twitter.com/jburnmurdoch/status/1608759025084297216
However, I'd say that Millennial (and lower part of Gen X) home owners have differences to previous generation home owners (at that age) because they've increasingly had to rely on huge amounts of money from parents compared to previous generations. I expect the psychology of that to make relationships/outlooks different. When student fees came in in 1998, I noticed parents (of 18 year olds) gradually getting more controlling of their adult children because they were paying.
And rising retirement ages can also add to people staying more "junior" longer in various types of work.
I'd say conservatism is more likely correlated with being the status quo and/or in control.
People in power aren't stupid so they've known the likely impacts of keeping entire generations infantalised longer into their lives than previous generations. So they blame younger people for it to avoid taking responsibility.
