#tomatoes are ripening
First #tomato harvest
@pikesley what type of chilli are you growing? I've got 3 types Habeneros, Scotch Bonnet, Lemon drops and serrano. I like chilli
@30yrdscreamer @pikesley I'm growing jalapenos, scotch bonnets and 'red' (seeds from Home Bargains, I think so, who knows? ) as well as sweet peppers. And they're all being very stubborn so far.
@BonehouseWasps @30yrdscreamer
I have https://www.simplyseed.co.uk/chilli-pepper-seeds/basket-of-fire.html and https://www.simplyseed.co.uk/chilli-pepper-seeds/jalapeno.html here. If I recall correctly, it's quite normal for the chilli seeds to take way longer than the tomatoes to sprout. Be patient!
@pikesley @30yrdscreamer Ah - good to hear. My toms have been up for a couple of weeks now. It's been a couple years since I grew chillis so I forget. Hoping that I'll have had the time to build the greenhouse to plant them into. Maybe they're being patient.
@BonehouseWasps @pikesley some of mine took 3 to 4 weeks to germinate in a heated propogator so don't give up on them
@30yrdscreamer @pikesley I'm using the "sunny windowsill" method. Might have to consider a heated propagator for next year.
@BonehouseWasps it's only given me a couple of weeks head start. Another thing I do is put cling film over the plant pot and secure it with a rubber band. Creates a mini greenhouse and works well for me.
@pikesley they're really cheap. I grow some seeds from supermarket bought chillies. I do the same with tomatoes too.
@pikesley when did you start them?
@pikesley cool thread.
@pikesley
Oh, the horror!
@pikesley
A great 'problem' to have! We share with family and friends and often get other starts or produce in return. But when cucumbers and zucchini are over running us all, it turns in to a neighbourhood game. You're not allowed to refuse something if it's been secreted on your porch, (or parked truck, atv, or tractor) but turning it into zucchini bread and returning that is fair game.

@pikesley took this this morning but spent all day today looking at 'blue screen of death' (not mine obvs, just schadenfreude-scrolling on Musk's hateful torture toilet) so just sending now.
