If you're interested in exploring the Overture Maps POI dataset, here's a useful interface developed by @bdon

H/T for @puntofisso for the link
I've used the Overture Maps tiles app to explore my local shopping street.
The overture dataset contains:
- a pizza place that closed about 3 years ago
- a bank that closed 3 years ago
- another bank that closed at least 2 years ago
- a supermarket that closed about 18 months ago
- some very poor geocoding, including several very misplaced points
- several duplicates
So pretty unimpressed so far.
Some more examples. Here's Bath Abbey:
https://bdon.github.io/overture-tiles/places.html#19.17/51.3812787/-2.3593204
We have:
- Abbey, Bath
- Bath Abbey
- Bath Cathedral
- 바스 수도원
- 巴斯修道院
- Bath, England Bath City Church
All but one of which are >80% accuracy.
Pretty sure Stonehenge isn't there either.
@ldodds just had a play round some known local areas, this isn't great. Bit of a big "why?" for me, I think...
@ldodds Just looked up my village and it has the pub located in the wrong place - checked OSM and it's all there OK
@ldodds I can't easily work out the point of Overture Maps from their website. It definitely has a bunch of wrongness near me.
@ldodds Apparently the Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh is located in a local park.
