Just tidying up my next tech history column on Jack Tramiel and this bit definitely hits different post US election.

Tramiel had built the future, but the longer he lived the more concerned he became that people would forget what that future had cost. He realised that he had no choice but to be more public about his own experiences in Auschwitz and Hannover. He didn’t want the world’s memory to fade. "You know," he said once, "it's hard to believe it really happened. But it can happen again. In America. Americans like to make rules, and that scares me. If you have too many rules you get locked in a system. It's the system that says this one dies and that one doesn't, not the people. That's why I don't hate the German people. Individuals, yes. Rules, yes. But not all Germans.” It was, he said, a reason why he ran Commodore the way he did. "They just obeyed the rules. But that's why we need more Commodores. We need more mavericks, just so the rules don't take over. "

I see two books written about Tremiel. Do you have a recommendation? Perhaps some of his own writing? Also, your own article, where will it appear?

@Pappy there's a couple out there. he's a complicated man. And part of the issue is that people who have written about him often knew him (for better or worse!) and that colours their image of him.

This article will be the next in my series on the forgotten history of Silicon Valley on Every.to

The plan is to publish them, in expanded form, as a book in future (I retain the rights to do so).
