Been putting my music on the various Bandcamp alternatives recently, because it's good to have options! Most recently the newcomer Ampwall. The interface is pretty slick, it works pretty well and the business model seems sustainable, at least to my mind.
Check out my music there! It's been described as "Boldly original", "Stunningly deep and clever" and "Radically genius!"
Described thusly by me, just now.... but still.

@Dace Do you know of any good guides or resources that give an overview of what's out there?
@flowti unfortunately, not really! I just searched around to see what others like me who are also making music are doing, basically. A lot of things are springing up right now since the second time bandcamp changed hands, and as yet it's a bit early to tell how they're all going to fare.
There's others I use if you weren't already familiar with them, like https://mirlo.space which is more or less like BC but collectively owned, or https://bandwagon.fm/ which aims to be more fedi-integrated
@Dace I'm really happy to this happening! Bandwagon looks especially interesting with Fedi integration - I wonder if @radiofreefedi is aware of them? I also discovered Faircamp, which looks great for those who want to host themselves.

@Dace @flowti Hey, thanks for the mention! Yes, I’ve talked with RFF a couple times, and still owe them a follow up call since their big announcement.
I think strict self hosting (even of a static website) is too complicated for non-technical people to do well.
And centralized services, well, you’re forever married to that company for better or worse.
#Bandwagon is a middle ground. Federation is key, and once import/export lands in 2025 non-techies can join any instance that works for them.
@benpate @Dace Just catching up on the news that #RFF is winding down and am really sad - it's no exaggeration to say that it's been one of the best things on the internet IMO.
#Bandwagon looks really promising! Is it you developing it? I agree that self-hosting is currently too difficult for most people, although things like #YUNOhost are making good progress with that.
