I'm worried that when Andy Murray finally retires it may also mark the death of the word "chuntering" from the English language.
Seriously, google "Andy Murray chuntering", see how many hits there are, then ask yourself if you have ever, ever, heard that word in any other context?
At this point it exists purely to describe the mid-match demeanour of a single Scottish tennis player. I can't think of any other sportsperson who has their own word.
@bazpoint I grew up with that word for when someone is chuntering on about something.
@bazpoint John Bercow was a fan of the word when he was Speaker. Only time I've heard it used
Ah yes, Bercow was good for using the full breadth of the language. Wish he did a podcast or similar, he'd be interesting to listen to.
