Just played #Risk for the first time in 10 years.
It was an excellent reminder why I haven't played Risk for 10 years.
I dislike Monopoly, my kids have a few rubbish games I'll tolerate if they want to play (Mario Game of Life anyone?) ... but Risk? I fucking hate Risk. I hate it with a passion.
@bazpoint best way to improve risk, you only get to attack until you lose a dice roll, then your turn is over. Moves the game on quicker and you get more guys more frequently.
I'd argue that the best way to improve Risk is some lighter fluid and a match.... but your approach seems reasonable too.
Unfortunately Risk is like a family religion to the person we were visiting... zero chance of them deviating from the official rules of their much-played 1960s inherited copy
