My goal in 2025 is to reduce my endless, mindless consumption and try to actually produce content on my Hugo blog.
Before I can do that I think I need to evaluate why I hardly ever blog (it's hard work and time consuming).
I will evaluate #emacs ox-hugo to make it smoother.
Then I will prevaricate on single, monolithic org file versus org file per post.
Then I will consider the migration of 1,000 existing markdown posts
Then I will evaluate comments for a static site.
See you in 2026 :-)
@andyc I'm reading your old blog in isolation but everything is in triplicate. Any idea why?
@david Yes. Like you I was experimenting and configured a documented option inSettings.
That didn't work so I added a code snippet to 'partial.html'.
Inevitably that didn't work so I added more HTML to 'global_just_feckin_work.html'.
And that didn't work.
@andyc all right, I'll ask you first next time.
@david Sorry. That was a reference to your own duplicated YouTube blocks.
Are you using
https://www.yakshaving.co.uk/index.xml
as the RSS source ? I don't see these posts duplicated in there.
Maybe unsubscribe and recreate fresh ?
www.nbrightside.com/atom.xml
Anyway, it's no big deal, I just thought it was amusing after my duplicate YouTube mishap.
@david That domain is dead. Switch to yakshaving.co.uk.
@andyc aha! How did I miss this?
Good news - I am busy working on my first blog post for two years.
Bad news - it involves converting a ancient Markdown draft to orgmode (including images, lists) and is about Oracle APEX which won't be of interest to anyone here
@andyc I'd unsubscribe but I already deleted your old nbrightside feed so now I'm stuck with this if I want to re-read your funny old posts.
@david All the old posts were migrated. Took me 8 weeks.
@andyc migrated = copied and pasted?
@david Mostly but the pesky front matter had to be tweaked for Hugo.
