Here's something re: the UK govt's anti-asylum, "small boats" rhetoric. You can argue about whether or not *they're* racist, but the reason they're pushing the issue to the forefront like this is because they think *you* are.

@airadam exactly! They think going full fascist is what people want, they think we are all small minded, xenophobic, bastards.
Unfortunately there are a lot of people in this country who are and they’re very vocal at the moment.
It’s an excellent distraction from the Brexit disaster and everything associated with that.
@airadam I believe that the small boats bill, like the Rwanda policy, is intentionally written to be clearly immoral ("slavery protections only apply to people we approve of" being the rule of... every slaving society in history, for example.)
This is so that the press waste time pointing out the obvious flaws in the bill rather than the obvious flaws in Johnson and Hancock, who would otherwise top the headlines.
