I am not sure that the new black and yellow striped warning chevrons, a la the 🚧 emoji, are really what a content warning is about. Hmm.

Like, those represent a warning that something is universally dangerous to everyone and that is not what any school of content warning is about? I think?

For those not on servers with the nightly Mastodon build, it looks like this:

@agvbergin I think it's better than the older "Show More" button, which just feels like it's for revealing the full version of a long post.

@aardvark179 Fair, I don't mind the "Show anyway" it's the warning stripes.

My own CW policy is that certain topics do always require them because we know that PTSD is much more common than we used to think. But at the same time, we shouldn't shy away from discussing these topics otherwise we can't solve the problems associated with them. I think the stipes are overdoing it.

Like, lots of people CW food pictures which I think is a good thing, but I don't think they should have warning stripes.

@agvbergin Maybe warning stripes made out of melting cheese? 😀
