@OutofPrintArchive pre-rendered backgrounds meaning the 3D power could be concentrated on the character models. Wonderful looking game that I bought pretty sharpish on release and it made me jump several times. But how on earth did we accept tank controls as normal?

One of the best looking games that came out that generation.
Truly spectacular.
Tank controls might now be ideal, but thinking about it now, I’d have was more trouble with a “point and go in that direction” control scheme.
Especially with the switching camera angles.
