No promises, but...

I am in a little bit of a lull, I went away to do some training/assessments/exams last week and since returning my focus has been taken elsewhere and I feel I am neglecting the fell run project a little.

This is okay, I never intended that I would be at this full time, but I do feel like I need to write something.

The problem is what to write about.

So, as I say, no promises, but does anyone have any burning questions they would like answered?

I will do my best, be honest, and share my experience where I can, and if I know nothing and am unable to answer, I will be honest about that too.

@fellrun what’s your next challenge / race, and longer term what are you thinking of doing? Mapping them out on a year planner, setting out the training blocks and breaking it down in to weekly and daily targets is a great way to keep on track. Especially as we go into the winter, with fewer events and more bad weather. Talking about the process, using the planner as a prompt, might help you to structure your posts, and the timing / frequency of them? Just a thought and hope that helps? 🙂

@Sourdough

I have to be truthful and say I suffer a lot with depression and my goal is always, literally always, fighting not to lose my mobility, which is a carefully managed balance of not doing either too much or too little. This is compounded by being a variable over time.

You are right though, I always benefit from making plans, even if those plans don't work out exactly, it is always a better outcome.

I am never going to be one of those channels that is always 'on it', I have to be honest and just share experience and help others share their experience. That's my thing I think!

Thank you, this is really insightful, helpful and thought provoking 🙏

@fellrun I think we’re both in the same place with the depression. This is the first year I’ve been able to maintain my training focus consistently, and it’s through making a plan and sticking to it, no matter how hard it is sometimes to get myself out the door. Every day is a new challenge. I’ll do another Toot outlining my training plan and running goals.

@fellrun training plan / goals for me. Currently I’m in week 5 of a 12 week block culminating in the UTMB Arc25 (40km race). That’s helping me focus on training over the darker months. Next week I’m doing a 6hour event, the Dormouse Challenge, to see how far I can go, and if my current favourite fuelling works (Pinole). Then I’m in a relay race the following Sunday, just seeing what pace I can maintain over 18.5km flat trail. Further ahead, I’m doing the UTS50, again! 🙂

@Sourdough

Awesome, this is great!!

Sincerely wishing you all the very best with it 😀

Full power to you!!!
