"In the WhatsApp chat, which contained #Labour councillors, party officials and at least one other MP, Mr Gwynne made racist comments about Labour MP Dianne Abbot, and sexist remarks about deputy prime minister Angela Rayner."
Thankfully in the UK it's still a fireable offence. In the US it will get you a seat at the top table.
@PoliceStateUK "See how I put down this elderly woman and her perfectly reasonable and polite letter about how often the bins are emptied, I'm a comedy genius"
They really are as repellent as the Tories, aren't they?
@Lazarou @PoliceStateUK We need another new political party in the UK. One that isn’t seeking to make disability welfare cuts and isn’t extreme right wing leaning, all the existing ones have sold out.
@AAA365a @Lazarou Greens seem okay. Bit less left-wing than they used to be, but a lot more electable. The question is whether they'll continue sliding right from there though.
It's weird/endlessly frustrating that if you survey the British public on individual issues, we're left-leaning, but something about our electoral system means parties have to swing right to win. I'd like to blame the media, but there's got to be a selfish core for them to appeal to to make that the winning strategy.
@AAA365a @Lazarou @PoliceStateUK
Agree, #Starmers repetition of "change" during the election was because Labour, tory, and lib-dems are widely seen as "stale and failed"
When #labour fail to deliver any meaningful change, it will be #reform that benefit (and we all suffer)
The #greens policies are generally good and popular (nationalisation of water etc) they were second place in 40 seats and recent polling is good, I think they are best placed to challenge from the left for now

We must get rid of #FPTP and have a more "representative democracy", so that the people can actually vote positively for smaller parties that truely represent their interests and values

@OliverNoble @AAA365a @Lazarou @PoliceStateUK
Yep, and there are those of us who are on the verge of giving up voting, while we still have FPTP... as not once has my chosen candidate been elected MP, and I've been voting since the 90s.
@torspedia @OliverNoble @AAA365a @Lazarou Same! Maybe that's why I ended up at so many protests
@PoliceStateUK @torspedia @OliverNoble @AAA365a @Lazarou
I'll never vote Green after 2017.
@linuxgnome @PoliceStateUK @torspedia @OliverNoble @AAA365a @Lazarou
Greens' failure to facilitate a Corbyn left government was both a disgrace and a missed opportunity. But that time has passed and they remain the core of a green left alternative in England. They can't do it alone; nor can the Labour left and/or independent left.
@markhburton From what I remember, the numbers didn't quite work out, even with everyone who wasn't Tories. Shame though.
@OliverNoble @AAA365a @Lazarou @PoliceStateUK
Any credibility the Greens had with me disappeared when they continued to claim they had a sensible policy of drug legalisation and regulation, but threw their support behind the tobacco and vapes bill.
@plock @OliverNoble @Lazarou @PoliceStateUK choose The Greens rather than Reform or anything with a whiff of bigotry so that is decided. Some of us spend the equivalent to a night in Nandos for the cost of a weekly supermarket shop, watching every penny or have to seek out food banks or community charities. Cough mixture and paracetamol is a luxury so we make our own with honey ginger and lemon.
@AAA365a @OliverNoble @Lazarou @PoliceStateUK As it stands, I wouldn't choose either.
@plock @OliverNoble @Lazarou @PoliceStateUK I accept that as your right but what is the alternative? They’re all sold out to the corporate rhetoric Greens less so. Mr Gywnne’s comment and regard which I find deeply hurtful is a reflection of extreme right wing ethos.
