lololol this is like the w o r s t month for me to do anything new but I'm already searching how to replace Win with Linux. I DO NOT want this.
I have enough tech gears in my head where i think i can do it, i just need the frickin time.
@artisanrox It's been many years since I used Windows, so I can't say for sure, but I hear good things about #elementaryOS for people making the leap from Windows. Good luck! 
@artisanrox Mint has a much longer history, so if you were already considering it I'd stick with that plan. It seems likely to have fewer rough edges.
thx....That's what I'll need *right now*. When things calm down for me in the next few months I'll have the time to really digest and get into playing with different distros 
glad i have more than one box (due to some $$$$ hardware i refuse to replace because there's nothing wrong with it!) to use for this while I learn lolololol
