Came across a money saving tip that's totally obvious, but I couldn't think of it at the question of how.
The clue is this:
The average person throws away 30-40% of food they buy... Oh. Oh! Yeah, obviously you save money when you use up food before it's past best/okay to use so you don't need to buy new. I knew I waste money when I throw things out but I hadn't thought of better planning as THE key technique to save so much money. Weird how that goes some times.

In the spirit of being more frugal, I used a jar of artichokes as the additional topping on a £1.75 veg pizza from Sainsbury's. Despite being a little past best use date, they were perfectly fine. It made a really cheap meal. I might add more herbs/spices next time to pep it up but that was a good pizza.
I have butter beans, Kalamata tapenade and Teriyake sauce I want to use up soon. Not all at once in one dish I hasten to add. Might do the beans with some cabbage I have. Recipes here I come!

The Kalamata tapenade is used up. Just on toast, it was okay.
I'm now looking into recipes for butter beans and cabbage.

@Giselle Protip: There are few things that can't be cooked directly out of the freezer, and they'll last years in there. Vegetables and herbs included!

@AshleyMarineP Thanks Ashley. Hopefully one day, but it does take a lot of planning which I haven't quite progressed to yet. Adulting is tough.

@Archie8 Hunh. Maybe together with artichokes and a little broccoli? Or anchovy instead...
Who knows, might be okay.
