Ironically the more I hear about #EMF from past attendees, the more I'm worried it'll be hard to make friends and break the cliqueyness that keeps being described to me.

Can any #EMFCamp alum help reassure me?

@kestral hey! Come volunteer and you’ll make friends! Given you’re academia-aligned you might like to help out in the green room or info desk or as a herald for stage stuff. That’s how I started and then suddenly I’m running things, idk how that happened. Bring whisky for whiskyleaks. That’s a good one too!

@kestral @CatherineFlick I think the whiskyleaks is the only alcohol-related thing I've heard about. I expect plenty of other nerdbait for us to gather around.

@kestral @hans oh yes definitely! Loads of things on. I think that is the only specific alcohol event that I know of! But yes, volunteer, go to a workshop early in the weekend, you might make some new friends!
