Today in bin-diving: remembering at 3am, that the tyre you binned yesterday still has a TCS Rocket tyre plug in it somewhere, and setting a phone reminder to find it, at lunchtime. #cycling #BikeToot #Velophant #BinDiving
An emotional rollercoaster:
Out riding yesterday and on the way home my power meter started reading 0.
"That's odd," I thought, "I didn't change the battery very long ago."
I went to change the battery and lo, the battery cover had fallen off and disappeared, together with the battery.
This was a significant setback as the manufacturer went out of business and spares are hard to come by.
On the bright side I have just bought a 3D printer, so maybe if I can find a model on the interweb then ... Yes!
So I will be spending part of today printing a new battery cover door, as the final step in commissioning the printer. Cost about 5p. (Ignoring the printer cost )
Now the battery cover also has an O-ring seal behind it. The internet yielded the dimensions and I found some on the interweb for about £5 ... plus £5 p&p. Or I could spend £35 and get free postage.
Bother. Heart rate monitor, the first thing I picked out of the washing machine. #cycling #BikeToot #velophant
The salt pattern on the legs is remarkably reminiscent of the designed pattern on the arms!
I went for a 100kto compensate for not going on Thu/Fri mornings when it was
risk.
The same gritter passed me 3x in 20 min. When I looked at the salt thrown up on my legs I was reminded of... oh yeah, my arms!
Also a reminder that if you're out on the roads at the moment to your
down when you return!
When 5/8ths of your friends come to the misty, damp, boxing day ride without mudguards.
The road's called COWgrove for a reason.
Anyway if I toot during the next week of illnesses that might be due to ingesting a lot of cowflops, this is why.

3 good things today
1. I wasn't squashed by the bin lorry
, when the driver mistook the bin-man waving a car to come past, for the signal to reverse. The nearest of misses.
2. Schoooool's out. for. winter.
3. Early pay-day!
Thank you for all your suggestions, let's see if a paperclip and some araldite settles its hash. #Cycling #velophant #BikeToot
This is odd. Why would a CO2 inflator have a pinhole all the way through the body? It's not gas tight. Did I drill it out in a dream?
Great news! A 1W increase in FTP!
Scheduled toot to say send me your best wishes as I should be embarking on the FTP test part of my morning ride about now... #cycling #velophant #BikeToot
Well it was only going to be 40-60k around the Forest, but the weather was too nice not to take the 100k strava badge for the month. Plus as well as motor-pacing us in his VW van for 500m or so, Pie Man made coffee and provided pastries, so I reckon that qualifies, especially when it came with a neatly folded piece of kitchen towel. #coffeeneuring #velophant #BikeToot #cycling
I would really appreciate your recommendations for wet-cold weather road overshoes - based on actual experience please! #cycling #BikeToot #velophant
Many of my UK cycling friends have been out on long bike rides today making the most of the weather, but I may be the only one that can't get out of their chair now they've sat down. #cycling #BikeToot #velophant
What kind of person starts to hope that their overseas work trip will be cancelled because it will interrupt their training rhythm, specifically, they will miss the planned date for their next ftp test?
This kind of person, apparently.
I suppose it's 20 minutes of discomfort, set against a whole week of transcontinental flights hotels and food.
Recommended : Clothes Doctor for repairs to cycling kit. Three sets of winter bib tights with holes in, fixed and ready for another winter's service, for 10% of the price of new. Should last another winter I reckon. #cycling #BijeToot #velophant #RepairDontDiscard
