#ThursdayFiveList #SupportYourLocals is an easy one for me, because the music scene is massive in Austria. Not.

Starting in the heart of Waldviertel, where I grew up, some epic heavy metal from Küenring:
Hounds of Küenring

Something from Krems, where I went to school:
Faust - Mein Herz lacht sich zu Kohle

Moving on to Vienna, where I lived for 16 years. Let's undig the dead with Voodoo Jürgens:
Heite grob ma Tote aus

Some Viennese Thrash from Mortal Strike

And finally, Roadwolf from very close to my home:

I'm full into it. As the most of you know, i'm coming from the nice side of Austria, #Tyrol, so i got some bands/Artists from different genres (Not only #metal) today

1. Insanity Alert - All Mosh/No Brain
If you like Crossover #thrashmetal it's the right band for you. You should probably Mosh a lot, also the music videos are always campy and fun.

2. Schlingen - Schlingen (Album)
German speaking #rock with #goth also #postpunk influences. I like the sound of it, i like the guys that made it and i think it's a great album

Hey all!

#ThursdayFiveList is all about #SupportYourLocals - so here’s my local festival:

From Oxford:
1️⃣ Radiohead and Creep
2️⃣ Foals and My Number

From my time living in Willesden Green, London
3️⃣ Aswad and Don’t Turn Around
And I bumped into Skin around Willesden, so
4️⃣ Skunk Anansie and Weak

And where I live now, Jamiroquai recorded Travelling Without Moving in the local Manor House in ‘96, so here’s
5️⃣ Jamiroquai and Virtual Insanity

Enjoy!

This is probably not what was meant by today's #ThursdayFiveList theme of #SupportYourLocals, but I'm interpreting it as support music venues in my state.

I looked at a list of upcoming concerts and chose the first 5 that sound good. I'm linking to a favorite song that the artist will undoubtedly play during the set.

1. Big Country / Béla Fleck and the Flecktones
I love Brevard, and I like Béla Fleck.

2. Black Horse And The Cherry Tree /
KT Tunstall
Sat Aug 23 2025 Toad the Wet Sprocket with KT Tunstall, Sixpence None The Richer
The Amp Ballantyne · Charlotte, NC

3. Couldn't I Just Tell You (Live) /
Todd Rundgren
I was thinking a live version couldn't compare to a studio production of this song, but then, listening to this on YT, I thought, hey, this sounds pretty good. And then, at the end, at 3:40, Todd lists all the luminaries apparently playing & singing with him (there's no video). Wow. That explains it.

Raleigh Memorial Auditorium · Raleigh, NC

4. Only So Much Oil in the Ground / Tower Of Power.
Tue Sep 09 2025 Tower of Power
Carolina Theatre · Durham, NC

5. Rockin' Around in N.Y.C. / Marshall Crenshaw

This week for the #ThursdayFiveList we are creating a festival with a local stage #SupportYourLocals. So here we go a locally sourced black metal stage for you all!

From the tip of North Holland we've got Dystopia - De Val song.link/nl/i/1743392565

From Friesland there's Kjeld - Falske Doop
song.link/nl/i/1548202436

From Drenthe Salacious Gods brings some noise with Oalevuuk - song.link/nl/i/1699809896

From my home town of Groningen we've got Walg - Geselberg
song.link/nl/i/1656901599

And from just over the border from Ostfriesland Friisk brings their atmo black to the stage: De Doden van't Waterkant song.link/nl/i/1753157826

Great theme! @moonshinebrigade

Final for #ThursdayFiveList theme #SupportYourLocals for turn of the century #Minneapolis music scene:

5/5
Flipp. They defined late 90s/early 00s music in Minnesota, even hosting teen band competitions and performances called "Teenage Rampage," which is where I was introduced to Faux Jean and The Melismatics! They performed at the 90s Woodstock and dumped cereal on the crowd. I went to at least a dozen of their shows.

Fourth for #ThursdayFiveList theme #SupportYourLocals for turn of the century #Minneapolis music scene:

4/5
Cold Cranking Amps. I squeezed through the entry of the (now gone) Sursumcorda bar to the back room to hear the last (?) performance of Cold Cranking Amps, who I'd never heard before. Their "Anxiety Blanket" CD was promptly memorized by me. Angsty staccato guitar is my soul music.

Third up for #ThursdayFiveList theme #SupportYourLocals for turn of the century #Minneapolis music scene:

3/5
Readygoes. A great almost glam-indie-rock who did covers and their own songs. I loved the lead singer's shiny silver shoes when he was on stage at The Press. I think I wore my red Readygoes t-shirt just last week...
