Bin Chicken 🗑𓅠<p>RFK Jr. Is Already Taking Aim at Antidepressants<br><a href="https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2025/02/kennedy-rfk-antidepressants-ssri-school-shootings/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">motherjones.com/politics/2025/</span><span class="invisible">02/kennedy-rfk-antidepressants-ssri-school-shootings/</span></a></p><p>Robert F. Kennedy, Jr has been planted by Trump in the role of Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services.</p><p>He wants to slash scientifically-established medication, hospital treatment, financial benefits, and government programs for people with these conditions:<br>- Chronic illness.<br>- Autism.<br>- ADHD, and medication including Adderall and Ritalin.<br>- Asthma.<br>- Obesity.<br>- Multiple sclerosis.<br>- Psoriasis.<br>- Mental illness such as depression and anxiety, and SSRI medication including Prozac and Zoloft.</p><p>RFK Jr says wants people who live with chronic illness such as those listed above — who often require daily preventative medication, a professional carer/assistant, or an assistive device for their daily functioning and to maintain their quality of life and sense of dignity and autonomy — to be stripped of their treatment and put into in "Wellness Farms" for "three or four years if they need it".</p><p>This is the sort of inhumane mistreatment of people requiring medical care that happened in the USSR and still goes on today in North Korea. It should not happen in the USA.</p><p>This move by RFK Jr is going to destroy childhoods, ruin families, cause people financial ruin, and for some people it will cost them their life.</p><p><a href="https://rants.au/tags/USPol" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>USPol</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/RFKJr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RFKJr</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/Trump" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Trump</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/ChronicIllness" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ChronicIllness</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/ChronicDisease" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ChronicDisease</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/Autism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Autism</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/ADHD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ADHD</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/Adderall" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Adderall</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/Ritalin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ritalin</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/Asthma" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Asthma</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/Obesity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Obesity</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/MultipleSclerosis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MultipleSclerosis</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/Psoriasis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Psoriasis</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/MentalHealth" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MentalHealth</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/MentalIllness" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MentalIllness</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/Depression" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Depression</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/Anxiety" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Anxiety</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/SSRIs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SSRIs</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/Prozac" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Prozac</span></a> <a href="https://rants.au/tags/Zoloft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Zoloft</span></a></p>
Hannu Ikonen, MD<p>For those of you who claim side effects occur with SSRIs, and an informed, consensual risk-benefit analysis is needed to decide whether to try them, 💯❤️</p><p>For you male white reply guys whose pecker went inactive because of them &amp; so you distort the clear science behind the NNT vs NNH, </p><p>1) Vancomycin in patients criterial for sepsis has a similar NNT to sertraline in treating generalized anxiety in adolescents.</p><p>2) people with autism have greater intolerance to them, &amp; more side effects hence risk-benefit discussion &amp; informed consent</p><p>You're basically advocating analogously against antibiotics using the logic of NNT. </p><p><a href="https://zeroes.ca/tags/SSRIs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SSRIs</span></a> <a href="https://zeroes.ca/tags/Depression" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Depression</span></a></p>
Matt Hodgkinson<p>"[S]he was called neurotic by her GP, who insisted that SSRIs could not cause sexual dysfunction and sent her home to do deep breathing exercises. But far worse would follow.<br>“... I was sectioned and placed involuntarily into psychiatric care as the psychiatrist said I had ‘delusional disorder’, and tried to put me on antipsychotics. It shattered my trust in ever seeking help for my mental health again”."<br><a href="https://www.theguardian.com/society/2024/mar/02/ssri-antidepressants-sexual-dysfunction-side-effects-consequences-libido" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">theguardian.com/society/2024/m</span><span class="invisible">ar/02/ssri-antidepressants-sexual-dysfunction-side-effects-consequences-libido</span></a><br><a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/SSRIs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SSRIs</span></a> <a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/Psychiatry" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Psychiatry</span></a> <a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/MentalHealth" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MentalHealth</span></a></p>

Anita Y Cheng<p>People using <a href="https://mastodon.publicinterest.town/tags/SSRIs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SSRIs</span></a> were 1.3x more likely to die if they got <a href="https://mastodon.publicinterest.town/tags/COVID" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>COVID</span></a> compared to non-SSRI users. (Apparently people on social media were advising to take SSRIs just to prevent COVID??) The study was with Danish adults, up to 60 days after positive RT-PCR test.</p><p>(IANAD, but I’m sure if you’re already on SSRIs it’s best to keep taking them. The lesson here is don’t take SSRIs expressly to prevent COVID…)</p><p> <a href="https://mastodon.publicinterest.town/tags/TWiVTLDR" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TWiVTLDR</span></a> 4/</p>
