Does anybody have tips for hand tying quilts?
I'd love to know how you do it and your best tips!

I have a cotton top, a thin layer of batting and an already quilted nicky back. I plan on tying every 5 inches because I just need to tack all layers together instead of stabilizing pieces and batting.

Mud pond road lived up to its name. It’s not really a road, well, class VI unmaintained road. Here the whole back wheel is sunk into mud up to the axle after crossing a little drainage stream.

I’m currently hand stitching 3 different projects — and my stitching bowl is full of the threads I’m using.

Bowl with spool of light purple thread, blue, purple & black embroidery floss, small hexie pincushion, filled with different needles & pins; and a small needle book.

I have recently started selling the clothes I make and send them to customers in the post. So far I have been putting the garments in a plastic bag but I would like to personalise the packaging. Does anyone have any ideas how to do this?

Printing custom wrapping paper seems crazy expensive. Ideally, I would like to find a sustainable solution. I would very much appreciate any ideas or experiences you've had wrapping garments. Thank you.

I haven't told y'all about this bookmark project.

I'm hand sewing bookmarks with initials, inspired by the bookmark my niece gave me with an E on it. The bookmark makes me feel attached to the book. So these will be donated along with books in a project I feel is coming together.

I've done TONS of hand sewing, but you can tell I'm teaching myself as I go along. (Yes, A B C D F E )

Mostly finished. First time I tried to turn it right side out one of the seams came completely apart, there's others that might follow suit under load, we'll see.
The cardinal cracks me up. I feel an urge to fill it with sunflower seeds and bike to parks and feed birds!

A partial frame bag on a red Trek Checkpoint. The side showing has no zipper in order to not break up the nice Cardinal art from seed bag. The Cardinal is looking forward, surely will make the bike faster!

The zipper side. I opted to try not having the zipper go the full way, which made things kind of complicated and this side has all kinds of crazy seam issues. There’s a “Ultra Clean” panel from seed bag and I took the little Blue Seal seal and used that for covering the zipper end.

No velcro holding this on bike instead I opted for M5 bolts in 3DPrinted thumbscrews. Three of them secure bag to underside of top tube, there’s another for the front into Down tube.

I have finished the little Edwardian-ish chemise. Scrap linen left over from old night dress, whatever cotton and linen lace I had, a bit of satin ribbon.
Very cute, almost entirely useless!

A very dainty white linen and lace top hanging on a wooden clothes hanger on a door. The little chemise has a strip of wide white cotton lace down the front, and the bust is almost entirely made out of joined together strips of assorted white lace on a diagonal. The very front of the linen part has been gathered, and a little very pale pink ribbon threaded into the two bands of lace making up the upper edge are on a little bow. Narrow lace ribbons make up the shoulder straps, very delicate looking. It is a confection of assorted materials that are more air than fibre, not doing a very good job of covering or insulation. Pretty, though.

The very front, with the bow, which is a bit sloppy but shall be operated on a by wear basis, so there's high chances Sini will bother to properly tie it later. The delicate little pink ribbon is polyester, soft and shiny, with its cut edges melted so they don't fray. Boo plastic, yay adjustment mechanism. Sini's pale fingers hold onto the ribbon. The seam joining the two bands of lace on the top is nearly invisible, but it is a tidy line of zigzag.

The shoulder strap at the front, and the shaped lace above the bust. There's some six or seven different strips of lace meeting here, and some of it hand finished with narrow hems.

The hip, where to make more room for wear with less fabric, there is a missing wedge of the shape to accommodate a body, and instead the side drops off in a straight slit down, which has been finished by hand with a very very narrow hem. It is slightly wider at the bottom, which has also been whipstitched by hand... And pieced a tiny bit, as there was only almost enough fabric. Looks pretty nice and deliberate, though. The glass door behind has an ornamental white flower design on one of those peel off window films, but only partial. It's there because it keeps it away from the cats.

A bike frame bag made out of part of seed grain (Blue Seal) bag. One side and the outer edges sorta sewed together, there’s a lot of stray bits of thread and questionable decisions. Where I have been focusing on the bag material being too flimsy and trying to reinforce it, I’m now facing the issue of it not wanting to flex as I sew it! “:^)
First frame bag, no pattern, some measurements off, learning as I go … whee!

I love the Cardinal on the material though, like it’s cheering me on “You can do it!”

Made bias tape for the first time (on the straight because will be using it on a single non-curving edge) and .. it was ok?

Less difficult than I imagined but also more boring?

Every time I use the iron for sewing I forget that 'pressing' is not 'ironing'.

After a very disappointing session trying to attach a collar stand on a shirt I was ready to give up entirely. Instead, I worked on a different project and it helped - I don't want to set my fabric stash on fire anymore.

I've made these scoodies to order. It's not even winter anymore but people still want them.

Two scarves with hoods attached, made from fleece. One is red and white, the other - red and black. The contrasting edge is rolled and stitched to look similar to piping.

"Just BeeCause" teableau for 04/05/25

"Just because," because bees are a just cause.

Bee themed tea tableau in gray, black, and white with some golden accents depicting honeybees on fabric and china, with a honeycomb patterned sugar and creamer, a wee gold teapot charm, a tiny Klimt Tree of Life charm, and a black and white porcelain terrier. The tea is an herbal infusion called Love Your Pollinators from Oshala Farms in Oregon, made from Tulsi, Peppermint, Lemon Balm, Calendula, Borage, Lavender.
