A much-needed day trip to the sea today, the first time we've been to the coast since October. Porthcawl was very lovely today, and the potent coconut smell of the gorse mixed with the sea air was an amazing tonic.

Waves gently breaking on the smooth sands of a beach. Beyond to the right is a stone sea wall with a seaside town behind it. It's a lovely spring day, the sky is cloudless and blue.

A foreshore of limestone pavement in the foreground, with the sea over to the right. To the left are coastal houses, mostly white painted and 1920s or 1930s in style. On the far horizon across the water, a range of hills can just be made out, slightly darker blue than the sky above them.

A sea of gorse in full yellow bloom with the sea behind and blue skies overhead. The scent of coconut is overpowering, go on, breathe it it.

A rocky shoreline of sea-scuplted limestone. White surf breaks against the shore. A low headland topped with yellow gorse can be seen on the right. On the far horizon the far side of the bay can just be seen as a darker blue line.

Another Slow Ways completed from Pyle to Sarn running primarily along the old Llynfi to Porthcawl train/tram line. Route surveyed and 5️ review given. Took a "bracing" #Wander from #RestBay in #Porthcawl to #SkerPoint today. Some dramatic #Seas and #Skies, Plenty of #Birds, including a huge flock of #GoldenPlover and it was good to see the scaffolding finally starting to come off #SkerHouse.

Stormy Sker Beach:

Looking over rough seas of waves and white surf to the cranes and chimney stacks of TATA steel in Port Talbot. The sky is dark and brooding and a gloomy haze covers the distance hills

Sker House:

Looking over undulating, rough grass fields seperated from one another by old dry stone walls. The recent rain has formed a pond at the edge of the nearest field where two white, Mute Swans swim serenely. In the middle distance a large imposing house stands. It has a dark slate roof punctuated by numerous chimneys (9 can be seen) and is rendered in a bright, mustard yellow colour. A tall grey stone wall runs away from the house and scaffolding rests against both the wall and the end of the house. The sky is a stormy dark grey

Golden Plover over Stormy Skies:

Heavy, stormy seas break in white surf on a rocky shore. A flock of birds wheels away from the camera and to the left. Most are in silhouette but their golden plumage can just be glimpsed on a few birds. The sky is dark and threatening with a golden tinge spreading from the left of the picture

Sun Burst at Rest Bay:

Stormy seas break on a rocky shore, churning the water into an expanse of white surf. Above, the sun breaks through dark, stormy clouds shining bright rays through the murky sky

Stormy Seas at Porthcawl Lighthouse:

A grey, stone harbour wall leads out into rough, grey seas. A small white lighthouse stands at it's end. A large wave breaks at the the base of the harbour wall, sending spray high above the lighthouse. In the distance, the cliffs of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast can be seen under stormy grey skies

Been #Wandering in a grey #Porthcawl over the last couple of days..... and it's all gone a bit #blackandwhite

Today's #DailyPhoto, for #MonDog is Cassie the #GoldenRetriever, bravely putting a toe in the sea at #Porthcawl's #RestBay a few weeks ago

Nice day for a dog #walk at #RestBay. Came across this..... either some casual beach art, or the site of some strange ritual....who can tell in #Porthcawl

A large tree branch sits at the top of a beach, bleached of colour by sun and sea it's obviously been there some time. Somebody has balanced verticle colums of pebbles along the length of the branch. A grey sea and sky can be seen behind and above the branch.
