@istar @ChrisMayLA6 Actually, no it wasn't. The #legislation aimed at #climate #protesters came later, under the #Tories. (I refer to, e.g., the Public Order Act, 2023: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_O; legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2023/.) The Terrorism Act, 2000, is being abused, not used, in its application to #PalestineAction - which cannot, in any meaningful sense of the word, be described as #terrorist. Clearly, the wording of the 2000 Act needs to be amended, so that it can't be abused.

The only question now is how long it will take for the UK government to admit what everyone else already knows: the Online Safety Act is an unmitigated disaster that makes the internet less safe for everyone."

CBS News - "Layoffs across the US this year have climbed to their highest level since the #pandemic slammed the economy in 2020.. In the first half of 2025 companies announced 744,308 job CUTS nationwide, the highest tally since the first six months of 2020, when #employers cut nearly 1.6 million jobs in response to COVID-related disruptions" #economy #congress #legislation #unemployment #firings #layoffs #gop #republicans #maga #BigTech #politics #government #BLS #firings #tariffs
