Fuzzy little punks!
Three days the flowers were blooming and no insects came even though they were swarming the blueberries.
I spent over an hour hand-pollinating this bush this morning and now 3 different species of bees are visiting the flowers.
WERE THEY WATCHING ME???

Vorig jaar was een uitzonderlijk slecht jaar voor veel insecten waaronder hommels. Dit jaar begint beter. Ik zag in de tuin al enkele hommelkoninginnen zoeken naar een nestplaats, en gisteren zat deze mooie akkerhommel van een paardenbloem te snoepen. #insecten #insects #insectodon
Gisteren op één dag drie wespenkoninginnen gevangen die zo te zien een nest wilden maken in ons tuinhuis. Een Duitse wesp (Vespula germanica) en twee gewone wespen (Vespula vulgaris).
Nu ben ik dat soort beesten doorgaans redelijk toegenegen, maar dit feestje ging toch lekker niet door. En de deur van dat kot hou ik voortaan dicht.

My https://wildbieneundpartner.ch #BeeHotel is running fine now for two weeks: the bees have been busy and already got 3 eggs in the observation drawer and two mudded up tubes, thus likely more there. I guess the rule or thumb is if half the tubes are full one has to buy a bigger hotel? ;)
