I think my hollyhocks have self seeded!
I might have discovered a new comfort watch while trying to figure out how to fix my tired ass flower bed. Her voice is soothing and her flowers are beautiful.
I definitely wasn't aggressive enough with my pinching and learned how to take care of them.

Came across this corner plot by the roadside in #Sherborne, mainly of #hollyhocks. Presumably self seeded, a great array of pastel colours, mainly pink and yellow.

My kitchen window. I recently posted the view from inside the kitchen so here's the view from outside. The tall, large flowered plants are hollyhocks, (alcea). They persist, and also increase in number, from year to year as they are short-lived perennials that also seed out.

There's lots of blooming and bees going on in the yellow squash, the tomatoes and tomatillo are taller than me, and the cucumber bed has no more beets.
The big leafy 'beets' had a big white root. Not sure what it is, maybe chard?

I love Hollyhocks! They are beautiful, tall, robust, unruly, bawdy and keep going all summer. Bees and other insects love them and behave as if they were shopping for recreational drugs.
This plant lives in an area in the garden called the Garden of Delights.

Some 'early' morning photos of the garden getting some sun from the East, and a photo showing the summer squash plants that are more than 3 feet tall now not counting the raised bed, and a 'bush' acorn squash that has lots of vines going in all directions.
Hollyhocks grow where they want to. These have chosen the drip line of the western red cedar tree.
Hollyhocks reign supreme these days! We don’t have as many as we used to, but they’re still pretty

Good morning lovely people! I need to soak up some sun today. Other than that, mop the kitchen floor, start sewing my magenta linen Yanta overalls.

It would be easy to say that the pale pink ones are my favorite but these double cream hollyhocks are spectacular! I am struggling to get pictures of this day Lily. My phone seems to have lost some settings in the most recent update.

It's almost zinnia time!
Other than stakes for the more vulnerable ones, all the hollyhocks survived yesterday's storm. They are so tall that it's difficult to get them in the frame.
The final picture is sunflower progress. I am 5ft/152cm for scale.

Scenes from the garden
Evidently, my hollyhocks are the talk of the block. Every one is blooming. I love this double white.

Vegetable garden bloom scrolling. Hot pink petunias, pink hollyhock, orange marigold, and Scarlet runner beans.
Good morning lovely people! Tonight is #theLastDriveIn The clue suggests a movie from 1958 and too many good movies came out that year to pick one. On the book: weekly menu and shopping list, laundry and rolling up some fresh summer rolls for dinner.
