The East African #CrudeOil Pipeline is a massive fossil fuel project in Uganda and Tanzania that risks displacing thousands, disrupting millions of people’s #water supply, and releasing 34 million tons of #CO2 into the atmosphere every year.

The corporations behind #EACOP are still looking for insurance for the project. Thanks to global pressure, more than a dozen insurers have already ruled themselves out of insuring it. But several companies – including UK-based Chaucer Group – have failed to rule themselves out.

Write to the CEO of Chaucer Group now and demand they rule out insuring this #climate wrecking project.

What's unfortunate about that?
Now that they're on the path of clean energy, they're likely to stay on it -- unless, of course, the dirty energy peeps force their dirty energy on them as is happening with, say, #EACOP.

While developed countries are locked in to dirty energy by history and strong oil & gas lobbies, developing countries can leapfrog into clean energy, - unless they're redlined - just like they did with mobile phones.

The Congo Rainforest, second only to the Amazon, plays a crucial role as a carbon sink.

One sign in this picture says “Lake Eduard is not for sale”; this lake is crucial for over 500k people’s lives and livelihoods and is directly threatened by exploitation due to the auctions.

The protest in Nigeria was held at a Total station. Total are behind the deadly EACOP pipeline.

Several scientists in white labcoats and other activists hold placards stating "Say no to gas", "stop with the EACOP project", "Lake Eduard is not for sale", "Let Africa Breathe" and other slogans against the exploitation and destruction caused by the EACOP pipeline and the DRC Peatlands auction.
