Northern spy 🍏 planted in place of the aged hydrangea. We will train it tall so that it can provide shade over the path and maybe front yard/pond on hot summer days.

Parents had a whole bunch of horse manure 🐎 and a big bag of peat moss so we mixed some of that in for the tree. It didn’t have much of a root ball so we’ll have to make sure it stays nice and anchored. #diy #gardening #apple #pnw #portalberni #vancouverisland

I know this isn't exactly a hot take, but it continues to blow my mind how stupid Siri is.

On an iPhone with Apple Intelligence:

"Siri, is it going to rain today."

"There's a possibility of rain starting Friday."

WTF? I didn't ask about Friday. Today is Sunday.

Restoring an iPhone in recovery mode

Previously I explained how you could use an iPhone to add another iPhone or iPad to Apple Business Manager. There is another common task where you no longer need a Mac or PC: restoring iOS on an iPhone in recovery mode.

The process is very simple and only requires an iPhone or iPad running iOS 18.

#apple AirPods Pro 2: The volume swings erratically even with all the fancy modes turned off. Very frustrating. After getting past the initial magic of transparency mode and conversation awareness, the basic task of listening to music is atrocious.

U.S. President #DonaldTrump's administration has been predicting its barrage of tariffs targeting #China will push #Apple into manufacturing the #iPhone in the United States for the first time.

> But that's an unlikely scenario even with #US #tariffs now standing at 145 percent on products made in China – the country where Apple has manufactured most of its iPhones since the first model hit the market 18 years ago. news.cgtn.com/news/2025-04-12/

@sjvn yeah, #Apple is continually a religion to many, but it’s also great hardware that can be purchased smartly without all that idiocracy involved. I’m in deep love to the capacity my M4 Max laptop delivers for a quite reasonable price if I compared it to PC laptops with similar performance. Screens tho are ridiculously expensive at Apple. My Benq is just fine and without drama!

Jedes fünfte iPhone wird in Indien hergestellt

In Indien hat Foxconn seine Kapazitäten laut einem Medienbericht stark ausgebaut. Das Land wird so hinter China zum zweitgrößten Exporteur von iPhones.

A ‘US-MADE iPHONE’ IS PURE FANTASY

Just as well for Tim “I gave Donnie a million bucks” Cook that his good buddy Trump has cancelled the tariffs on iPhones from China (no connection at all between that reversal and Timmie’s donation, no sir…), because he couldn’t start making his overpriced fanboi hardware in the USA any time soon. Or ever.

'Everybody wants one' Apple's iPhone 16 hits Indonesia stores after months-long ban

> the US tech announced last month that its latest #smartphone models would hit the shelves, weeks after striking a deal with the Indonesian government to invest in the country.

"Tech CEOs aren’t actually staying silent. They’re simply lobbying behind the scenes on their own behalf...

... most of the strategizing around trade rules—and conversations with Trump’s staff—are happening through back channels right now...

During Trump’s first term, Cook carefully cultivated a direct relationship with the president in order to lobby him on issues like trade and immigration. I have a hard time imagining Cook isn’t using that direct line now."
