My <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/Hungarian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Hungarian</a> spouse would sometimes ask me to measure out a “dekagram of flour”, which I would assume meant ten grams. This was never the right amount, as she wanted 100 grams. And I would be confused. Only today did I read a recipe myself and see, say “1 dkg liszt” (one deci-kilogram flour). It seems natural to pronounce “dkg” as “dekagram”, even though it means a different quantity of deci-kilogram.I have no idea of whether pronouncing it “dekagram” is widespread in Hungary or is specific to my wife’s family.
