The road from Formby to the Cheshire Lines rail-trail is closed to through-traffic (I think the bridge over the old railway needs work they can't be bothered to do) so the local hares are getting used to mostly having it to themselves.

It was still really warm last night for a lovely ~40 mile loop out on the Cheshire Lines and back along the coast.

The "event booking" system is super lightweight. Someone posts a message like "Anyone riding tonight? 6pm at the Bikiosk" in the WhatsApp group and attendees react to that with 👍

It's more of a "don't go without me" than a mandatory requirement; it's a very relaxed affair.

Last night there were five 👍s on my announcement.

As you can (just about 🤣 ) see from the video, the good weather and promise of beer garden brought out a few more!

Last night the went to the beach. As Formby is a bit further than our usual Friday night rides, we collected people at a couple of stations en route.

Alicja led the route. Vinny brought the tunes. Others brought refreshments and snacks. James brought a camping stove and bacon butty ingredients!

Some went for a swim. Some of us just hung out and minded the bikes.

A bit of video from Friday's . We were over the water this week, starting in Port Sunlight and wending our way through the Wirral interior before popping out onto the coast at Leasowe. Then pad thai cooked by a Thai member of our gang at the new Hype Urban Cycles hub in New Brighton.

Then back home along the river on the prom to Birkenhead and a ride through the tunnel.

Over the water for last night's ride. Ferry to Seacombe, rode up the river through parks and industrial estates to the Tap at Eastham Ferry (a real bikers pub, but the sort with engines, they were mostly amused by a pack of acoustic bikes turning up); then back to Birkenhead for the train under the river and home.

Out for a late in an attempt to salvage something from the evening after mostly failing at community management.

Happened to bump into a mate at the lights near the end of the ride, and had a good chat for a few sequences of green, so got home in a better frame of mind
