Sebastian :coffefied:<p>I’ve cleaned our <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/GaggiaClassic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GaggiaClassic</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/coffee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>coffee</span></a> machine. Triumphant, I wanted to make a nice espresso. I’ve got some water and then I’ve become Bob Odenkirk from a “Nobody” bus scene, saying to myself in the mirror: “I’m gonna fuck you up”. Lost my mind for a brief moment and I’ve put water into <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/FellowOpus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FellowOpus</span></a> conical burr electric grinder…</p>
Sebastian :coffefied:<p>I have a wicked plan of converting <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/GaggiaClassic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GaggiaClassic</span></a> into a wirelessly turned on/off <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/SmartHome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SmartHome</span></a> appliance. In theory it should be as easy as tapping in a wireless <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Zigbee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Zigbee</span></a> in wall switch into power and pass it through to the momentary switch on the front of the device…</p><p>There is a timer/sensor in it too, so it might be trickier than I hope, but it’s worth exploring…</p>

Sebastian :coffefied:<p>I’m so happy! Managed to disassemble the solenoid valve, clean it and put it back together. There was no water flow on the grouphead, now it’s like new! <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Gaggia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Gaggia</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/GaggiaClassic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GaggiaClassic</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Coffee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Coffee</span></a></p>

jaymerryfield :mstdnca:<p>Spent 3 hours doing my semi-annual deep clean of all my coffee gadgets and documented the occasion with some photos. I have some accessories arriving for Christmas so things will change a bit but I’m pretty happy with my bar as it is. </p><p>•Gaggia Classic Pro, unmodified<br>•Eureka Mignon Crono, upgraded with forks &amp; espressoburrs<br>•Baratza Encore, upgraded with M2 burr <br>•Origami Air + Hario 02 Range Server (plus other brewers tucked away in the cupboard)</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/espresso" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>espresso</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/coffee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>coffee</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/gaggiaclassic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gaggiaclassic</span></a></p>

CoffeeGeek<p>During our <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/GaggiaClassic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GaggiaClassic</span></a> Pro Evo testing I'm confirming how to REALLY, SIMPLY achieve good temperature surfing results with minimum interaction. </p><p>It's coming back to what I did on a Gaggia Classic back in 2003: </p><p>- Preheat machine 10min.<br>- Grind your coffee dose<br>- Flush the machine until the ready light goes off.<br>- load, wdt, tamp coffee in PF<br>- Watch for lamp to come on, flip steam switch for 5 sec, turn off, brew the shot.</p><p>Scace shows 200F in groupehead, every time, doing this.</p>
CoffeeGeek<p>Temperature surfing espresso machines like the <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/RancilioSilvia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RancilioSilvia</span></a> and <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/GaggiaClassic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GaggiaClassic</span></a> were techniques born in the CoffeeGeek forums back in 2002 through 2006 and beyond. </p><p>Temperature surfing can really, dramatically improve the quality of espresso your machine puts out.</p><p>I feel some modern takes on doing this are just way too complicated, however. </p><p>For instance, Lance, (who does great videos!) really kinda complicates the Classic here a lot.</p><p><a href="https://youtu.be/qz7PPnPSFd0?si=dBzyxn4yGDhZvP39" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">youtu.be/qz7PPnPSFd0?si=dBzyxn</span><span class="invisible">4yGDhZvP39</span></a></p>
