Becky<p>Surprisingly, it is loading on php 7.4 with only a few minor edits to 5 files thus far. I still need to test the major functionality of the site to find any issues in the code that I myself wrote (again ... almost 15 years ago), but the CI framework code itself appears to be working okay. </p><p>I want to get it working on php 7.4 first. Then I'll address the php 8.3 issues. </p><p>Wish me luck. </p><p>2/2</p><p><a href="https://phpc.social/tags/php" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>php</span></a> <a href="https://phpc.social/tags/CodeIgniter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CodeIgniter</span></a></p>
Becky<p>My task this week: get a website that is currently being served on php 5.6 working on php 8.3. </p><p>This particular site was the first site I worked on at my current employer ... almost 15 years ago. 😳 It is built on CodeIgniter 2.0.3 (&amp; is still on that version).</p><p>We don't host the site. The host has never asked us to make it work on newer versions of php. And this particular client doesn't have a lot of extra money.</p><p>I'm glad that we're FINALLY updating it.</p><p>1/2</p><p><a href="https://phpc.social/tags/php" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>php</span></a> <a href="https://phpc.social/tags/CodeIgniter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CodeIgniter</span></a></p>

It's a microservice and it only has 2 routes and 2 controllers, so it should be a quick win.</p><p><a href="https://indieweb.social/tags/codeigniter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>codeigniter</span></a> <a href="https://indieweb.social/tags/dayjob" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dayjob</span></a> <a href="https://indieweb.social/tags/php" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>php</span></a></p>
