Karl Matthias 🇺🇦
Mixer and audio amp work! Don’t have the rest of the Soldersmoke direct conversion receiver done yet. But I used the digital VFO for my 2m radio homebrew project to feed the LO port on the mixer. Used my 2m FM HT to give some signal toward the exposed end of the coax. At first I heard just screeching. Then realized one side of one toroid was backward phase. Fixed that and could hear myself on the speaker! 🔊 #HamRadio #AmateurRadio

DK4HAA - Harm
Yesterday, I participated as a supervisor at a local youth organization's children's festival and organized the draussenfuchs.de fox hunt. A total of almost 300 children attended the festival, and about 90 fox hunts took place. It was a lot of fun. But in the evening, I fell straight into bed.

#draussenfuchs.de #hamr #amateurradio #amateurfunk

J.C. KC8JC 📻
Real talk? Am I the only one who tries to give accurate signal reports while activating a POTA site? I find that quite often the hunters will echo whatever report I gave back to me. Karl Matthias 🇺🇦
At IRTS Hamfest in Mullingar yesterday, I picked up these two (working) Yaesu 80s era linear amps for €15 ea. They do 10W with maximum 1.5W in. The 2m version is all discrete components inside while the 70cm uses a Mitsubishi RF module. The 2m will be perfect to run as the power stage for my 2m homebrew project if I get that completed. Had never seen these before and think they’re pretty cool. Seemed like a great price. #HamRadio #AmateurRadio.

AN/CRM-114
Another thing I wish they told me when I was getting my General #AmateurRadio license:

An RF signal generator is a great tool to have. I got a cheap one to make sure my cheap 1.25m monoband mobile was working right. I ended up getting a much better intuition for what the RF gain setting on other radios translated to on the S-meters

Karl Matthias 🇺🇦
This is my version of the Soldersmoke direct conversion receiver mixer and audio diplexer board. Missing an inductor that arrives tomorrow and then I can test it. Still have two boards to go. Not going to win any beauty awards with mine, but I’ll be happy if it works! This was about 4 hours of work, mostly spent laying out the board and then fiddling with trifilar windings. Learned some stuff though. #HamRadio #AmateurRadio
